Dance South Policies
Class Placement
All Open Division and Performing Arts Division
students are observed during class to ensure that they have
been placed at the proper level. Open Division students are
placed according to age. Performing Arts Division students
are placed according to technical abilities.
Class Attendance
It is very important that students attend
their scheduled classes. Should conflicts arise with the
regularly scheduled class, it is the responsibility of
the student or the parent to notify the office. Students
can be shifted if necessary. If a student should be ill
or suffer an injury, please notify the office as well.
Missed classes due to illness or family emergency can be
made up by arrangement with the individual teacher. Make-up
classes will be scheduled as they are available. No refunds
will be made for unattended classes.
Dress Code
All Performing Arts Division students
must adhere to the uniform requirements. Students improperly
clothed will be excused from classes. This policy is for
Open Division students as well, although they do not
have required uniforms. Hair must be in a neat bun for
ALL ballet classes.
Student Drop Off
Students should be dropped off for class no sooner than
15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. All students
below the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
18 years of age or older. All students are to be on time
for class. The beginning of each class serves as warm-up
time, so any student arriving later than 10 minutes may be
asked to sit out and observe class. This is for your child’s
safety; it is not a punishment.
Students are not allowed outdoors in dancewear or dance
shoes. Please include a cover-up for your student to
wear before and after class.
Cancellations
Dance South Studios reserves the right to cancel
any class offering if enrollment is insufficient. In these
cases, the student will be given the opportunity to enroll
in another class or receive a full refund of tuition and
registration fees. In the event that a teacher is unavailable
for a single class session, it will either be rescheduled
or taught by another instructor for that session.
Withdrawal Policy
One month’s advance written notice is required for
withdrawal. If you are two payments behind in your tuition
without making financial arrangements with the studio office,
your child/children will be automatically withdrawn.
